Abstract (English) — 200–250 words
This book gathers luminous scenes and radiant states drawn from the biographies of the righteous men and women at the moment of death. The idea took shape while the author, Dr. Khaldun Makhluta, was compiling the marginal comments of the renowned hadith scholar al-Dhahabi in his work "Siyar A'lam al-Nubala'," where he encountered striking accounts of how eminent Companions, successors, and scholars faced death. He resolved to collect these accounts into an independent work offering a fuller, more coherent picture of these final moments.
The book opens with introductory chapters on the reality of death, the departure of the soul, the wisdom behind its pangs, and the etiquette of a righteous death, along with a discussion of the fear of a bad ending and its causes. It then presents, across twenty-eight chapters, varied accounts: the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in his final moments, the noble Companions, righteous scholars and pious men and women, those overcome by longing for their Lord, those torn between fear and hope, and martyrs who died in true sincerity — concluding with accounts of those who spoke or moved after death as signs of divine acceptance.
The work closes with general indexes of Quranic verses, hadiths, poetry, and biographical subjects, making it a devotional and educational reference for readers seeking to reflect on death and prepare for it with hope in a good ending.
